We prepare and serve meals for 65 people (or more!) at Calvary/St. George's Church at 755 Clinton Avenue in Bridgeport. We serve from 4:30-6:00 pm on the 2nd Monday of every other month. A group of volunteers steps up to prepare the meal (in the St. Tim's kitchen or in their own) and our enthusiastic crews - from youth to seniors - serve the meal. If you would like to be part of this most important ministry, please contact the office.
CREATE is a culinary training program for the aspiring food entrepreneurs in the Bridgeport area. We partner with the program by being a host site for their FEED Marketplace product line distribution and by having them cater our annual meeting. More to come as our relationship with this group deepens!
St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport hosts the Family Center, which provides food, clothing and support to families in need.
There are several collection boxes housed in the narthex at St. Tim's. Non-perishable food items, as well as gently used clothing, are delivered year-round to the parish of St. John's where the donations are made available to those who can most benefit.
Our Community Garden bounty of fresh, organically-grown fruits and veggies is regularly delivered to Operation Hope. Operation Hope provides individuals and families the opportunity to experience transformative change. Their programs and services focus on eliminating hunger and homelessness and are designed to help people solve their crises and build stability in an environment in which compassion inspires dignity and hope.
St. Tim's has participated in the 30-Hour Famine for three years now and has raised (in conjunction with Trinity Southport and St. Paul's) over $8,000! Fasting from a Friday afternoon to a break-the-famine feast the following Saturday evening, the group learns about world hunger, engages in an outreach project, and has a lot of fun in the process.
30 HOUR FAMINE
Each year we support the Great Thanksgiving Project of the Bridgeport Rescue Mission by collecting cans of gravy. It is the small part we play in helping provide 3,200 families in need with a turkey, and bag of fixings so they can prepare a home cooked Thanksgiving meal.
We make our building available for community meetings and events. In addition to hosting town events like District 1 Representative forums, we build a stronger community through being the home base for groups like the Fairfield chapter of the Sunrise Movement.
