Service to Others
We prepare and serve meals for 65 people (or more!) at Calvary/St. George's Church at 755 Clinton Avenue in Bridgeport. We serve from 4:30-6:00 pm on the 2nd Monday of every other month. A group of volunteers steps up to prepare the meal (in the St. Tim's kitchen or in their own) and our enthusiastic crews - from youth to seniors - serve the meal. If you would like to be part of this most important ministry, please contact the office.
30 HOUR FAMINE
St. Tim's has participated in the 30-Hour Famine for three years and has raised (in conjunction with Trinity Southport and St. Paul's) over $8,000! Fasting from a Friday afternoon to a break-the-famine feast the following Saturday evening, the group learns about world hunger, engages in an outreach project, and has a lot of fun in the process.
We expand the reach of various ministries (such as Caroline House , Bridgeport FEED, Food For The Poor, Grace2Go, and the Sunrise Movement )by periodically welcoming guest speakers on Sunday mornings.
Our Community Garden bounty of fresh, organically-grown fruits and veggies is regularly delivered to Operation Hope. Operation Hope provides individuals and families the opportunity to experience transformative change. Their programs and services focus on eliminating hunger and homelessness and are designed to help people solve their crises and build stability in an environment in which compassion inspires dignity and hope.
In addition to hosting a collection bin for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, we conduct collection drives for organizations from time to time (eg, Bridgeport Rescue Mission's Great Thanksgiving Project or the Greater Bridgeport Ministry Network's Socktober drive)
We make our building available for community meetings and events. This includes occasionally hosting town events or forums.
